RN

I just peeked at our Board of Nursing website and I'm registered as an active RN with a license number as of today!

*BIGSIGHOFRELIEF*

Major Stress

I am under some stress today.

Yesterday was my NCLEX. I have no idea how I did. I keep running through my head what the heck I'm going to do if I failed.

After the test, I needed some comfort. So, I found it at the yarn shop. I bought the book, Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch. I also bought some beautiful Claudia Handpainted Yarn called "Bootcamp". It is black with bits of green and burnt orange. Absolutely beautiful. I am planning to make my dad socks for his birthday, but since I'm a slow knitter, who knows if I will finish them. My mom said "Oh well, if you don't, then there is always Christmas." Ever optimistic mom.

Quick note on my house restoration. My husband read that while many people think homes in the Victorian era had mostly crimson for their dining rooms, that really they often used green. So, I'm in search of what shade of green because the tile in the dining room, in fact, is white with green flecks. And I'd prefer green. Any experts out there on Victorian era decorating?

Well, I am off to watch Martha. Have I mentioned how much I love Martha?

I finished a sleeve of Wicked. I really am knitting on her, even if it doesn't seem so.

The mantle is still coming along. Now that it has been warmer, we've been using SoyGel to strip it. We can open the doors and get some circulation. SoyGel doesn't have a strong smell, but I am not into stripping any paint without circulation of air. We've had to use dental picks to get in and around the decoration on the wood.

Well, if you don't hear from me again, my NCLEX is next week. I haven't been studying like I should because I am so sick of books and tests .... So, I need to get it into gear and do some practice questions or something. Please, please, please, let me pass.

"You take a wrong step and you end up wearing yest...

"You take a wrong step and you end up wearing yesterday's underwear, sitting on the carpet trying to teach yourself how to knit."

That's a line from The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. I am currently in the middle of this excellent book. If you can't knit, it's still a great read. If you can knit, you'll love the knitting and the yarn shop settings.

That is pretty much how I started knitting. I was wallowing in my depression, and then suddenly, I was sitting there trying to learn how to knit. I graduated nursing school, and as happy as I was to be out, I couldn't remember who I was when I wasn't a nursing student. I had just lost my darling cat during finals - a grief that still finds me in the middle of the night and leaves me crying into my pillow. I was lost, lost, lost, and then knitting found me again.

I am not an excellent knitter. Probably not even a good one, in fact. I am slow. I haven't one finished object to show for the year of 2007, and we are well into March. It doesn't really seem to matter. I am still a knitter, finished object or not.
