Life after nursing school

It's so weird. I have an employee badge now, and I start work after the new year. I feel very odd.

Oh, I need to mention I won an award at our pinning. I got the clinical excellence award much to my surprise!

What else is new? I hate Christmas this year. I have no money. I cry over my cat every single night still.

We did manage to get our plumbing fixed so it no longer floods the basement if you flush (yeah, that was bad). That's partly why I'm broke. They had to cut out all the old cast-iron pipes and replace them.

I also have taken up knitting because I have nothing better to do. I am teaching myself, and teaching yourself to knit is somewhat hard.

I too am SO not in the spirit. I don't cry very often anymore, but I think about the dogs all day, every day. My husband asked if I was excited about Christmas, and had to tell him no. I explained it was because the house is so empty, but I know it hurt his feelings. I put in an application for another dog, but lots of others did too, so I'll have to wait for the exec director of the rescue group to make a decision. Aren't we a mess? Let me know how it is with a "real" job. When do you take the boards?

We recently lost our family dog this last year and it was hard on the kids. We also have 5 cats. Three inside and two neighborhood cats that hang out. They are like children. You will feel left out and sad after graduation because of the emotional letdown. You have been used to the almost constant stress and now you "have nothing to do". I will probably go a little bonkers when I finally finish grad school. One more semester to go!
