LYS trip

I had the day off yesterday, it was beautiful, and I felt like making a trip to the yarn store. I meant to only pick up Brittany needles so I could finish my socks, but of course I bought yarn, too.

I broke a needle!

Last night, I had just picked up my sock... and I broke my needle. I could have cried. So now, my sock is again on hold because I need to go and get myself another #2 Brittany Birch needle and the closest place is about 45 min. away.

So, I started knitting on Wicked again. I had forgotten how much I love her.

Also, I went and bought like $80 worth of flowers and veggies today and planted them. Please god, let them live. I have never had a green thumb, but I'm trying. Really! I planted them, talked to them, watered them with a little extra Miracle Grow added.... and I promised them I'd even sing to them if they'd just grow.

I'll try and take pictures later this week.

Yarn Harlot and More!

I saw the Yarn Harlot today. I went to the Bluegrass Festival of Books.

I saw a panel called A Good Yarn: Knitters, Fiction, and More! at 11 am. It had Susan Anderson of Itty Bitty Hats, who I met before it started and got a signed book from her. She was fabulous! She was so so nice, and I have decided I adore her. I can't wait to make baby hats! It also had Ann Hood who wrote The Knitting Circle, and she was captivating. Last, but you know never least, it also had Stephanie Japel who wrote Fitted Knits.

Then, at 2, I saw the Yarn Harlot speak. I met her before hand and bought *3* of her books and had them signed. She took a picture with me and I held her sock! I am sure she thought I was a babbling idiot because I was soooo excited and just gushing. In fact, I can't remember anything I said, except.... She told me my sock was perfectly executed, and I started trying to point out my errors. She said "You aren't supposed to tell people!!! Just say thank you!!"

I started knitting in December, and I have never ever ever knit with other knitters before. I was shy about maybe doing my stitches weird or looking stupid.... At the table I was sitting, I had soooo many encouraging words and it was just wonderful.

So, here's my picture of me and the Yarn Harlot. I have her sock, she has mine. And my hair looks like I'm eating it - sorry.

Working on....

I haven't posted because I've been sick. S I C K. Then, I had to work work work.

Today's my first day off that I haven't been sick! So, I thought I'd show you what I am working on for pleasure....

I was knitting Wicked, then switched to those socks for my dad. Yeah, they won't be getting done for his birthday, but he'll get them sometime. Here is sock #1 in progress. I'm using the Garter Rib sock pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks.
I am taking a room of my own to work on in the house.....
Here are before pictures, and soon I will be going in there to strip all that wallpaper to see what those walls look like underneath. Will they be a disaster? After stripping that, I plan on stripping woodwork, scraping off that terrible textured ceiling, and pulling up the carpet. Once I get down to the bare minimum, I'll fix her back up again.
Before pictures:

Ok, I had more pictures but since Blogger never works right, it isn't loading them.....

I'll try again later!

Ok.... saved version.... let's see if I can continue this post.......

Blogger still didn't like my medium sized pictures. Oh well.

While I was waiting for Blogger to not hate me, I went to pull some wallpaper to see what was underneath. And what the heck!? Under the top layer of wallpaper is fabric. This white linen was put on the wall? Whyyyy???? Then, under that tons more old wallpaper, and looks like my plaster *IS* going to be in fact... a DISASTER.

And Molly LOVES Sensational Knitted Socks! Of course, then her owner
can't read it, but she doesn't consider that her problem!!
